Brig. Genl. R. H. Milroy
Sir
Yours of inst. to hand
- Dr. Wm. P. Rucker was captured at Sommerville
Nicholas Co. Va. July 25th 1862. He killed the
traitor at Covington, Allegheny Co. Va. I think early
in 1862, he resided in Covington, Va. prior to
the rebellion, but moved to Nicholas Co. near
Sommerville after the homicide and after being
tried twice for it & cleared. Mrs. Rucker with
her children passed through our lines in Sept.
last on her way to see her husband & I have not
heard from her since.
I do not the Christian name of Maj. Whaley
his address is, K. V. Whaley, Washington D.C.
I am glad you are moving in this matter.
Very Resp.
Your Obt. Servt.
