My dear General,
I did not arrive here
until Sunday last, having been sick in
Baltimore ten days. On my arrival
I received your letter dated 4th inst.
and should have replied ere this, and
forwarded, as requested, charges and spe-
cifications against McReynolds, but im-
mediately on my reporting at Headquarters,
I was again placed in arrest on the old
trumped-up charges, which were success-
fully refuted before a Court of Inquiry call-
ed by yourself, at Berryville, last spring.
A Court Martial has been convened
to try me – called by Gen’l. Kelly, at the re-
quest of Col. McReynolds, and the members
of the court designated by Col. McReynolds
& Lieut. Watkins – the horse thief, & partner of
Capt. Oth – who is now acting as Adjutant
General for McReynold. The court is
composed of three field officers & four captains. Lieut.
Col. Wildes, 116th Ohio, as President – Major
