General Milroy
Dear Sir
After my compliments to you
and all your officers, I acknowledge the receipt of yours
dated Oct 25th/62. It would give me much pleasure to

We have done considerable scouting since we came here and
could I had the help which I should have had I would have made
a good thing of it, but Col. Craney, when I sent to him for two
companies did not send them and failed to ketch the “Rebs”.
I will go on and try to ketch them myself. We have had
a small scrape with the infernal scamps, my men killed
