              SPECIAL ORDER. 


 
HEAD-QUARTERS SUB-DISTRICT OF BOONE, 
MEXICO, MO., JAN. 11th, 1865 


 
 
    It is ordered that the following class of persons 
shall be sent beyond the lines of our army whose 
presence in this Sub-District invites rebels from the 
Southern armies to come among us for guerrilla and 
bushwhacking purposes, and such others as against 
whom can be furnished evidence of aiding, feeding, 
concealing and furnishing information to the out- 
laws who have infested the Sub-District during the 
last four summers.  In order that reliable inform- 
tion, upon which to base the removal of the disloyal 
element from this Sub-District, may be on file at these 
head-quarters, it is ordered that a thorough enroll- 
ment of this class of persons be made.  The rolls 
will exhibit, 


 
      1st   The names of persons who have 
been in the rebel army previous to 1864, 
and the date when they entered the rebel 
service. 


 
     2d.  The names of any such as joined 
Price during his raid in 1864. 


 
     3d.   The names of those who have 
been, or are now attached to guerrilla 
or bushwhacking organizations. 


 
    4th.  The names of such as against 
whom evidence of aiding armed rebels and 
bushwhackers, and the witholding infor- 
mation of their presence and movements, 
can be found. 


 
    The rolls will also show age, residence, number 
of family, and amount of real and personal property 
in their possession, and such other information in 
addition touching each family as will enable the 
military authorities to become thoroughly informed 
as to who should not be permitted to remain during 
the continuance of the war. 


 
     All officers serving in this Sub-District, and all 
good citizens residing therein, are expected to aid in 
furnishing the desired information.
