you the other day I talked
with Dr. Hand Surgeon-in-Chief
of our division as to my
course or prodedure to
get with you. He could
conjecture but one of
two ways. I must
be newly appointed by
govt. as Surgeon of
volunteers, involving
an examination of 6 days
the severest & I am
told by arm med. corps.
inspector, ungentleman-
ly & malicious castra-
tion ((as they the examiners), are
able regulars & prejudiced
against innovation) in the
way of an examination
