In view of
the fact that the citizens of this (Coffee) County, have
in a manner not to be misunderstood or mistaken,
manifested their desire to return to the government of this
United States, & for the restoration of Law & Order, and
as we are all poor, many disheartened & dependent.
We respectfully suggest that an assurance from you
that they should be fully protected in their property,
& in their crops when grown by them would leave
a happy influence upon the community, in encourag-
ing them to go to work in commute. Many farmers are
without farm stock & could they at this place
purchase certain stocks many would give
crops, who otherwise will not do so, all given
citizens feel intimidated in the whole community
being engaged at some sort of labor. We respect-
fully ask you to issue an address to the people
of this county, giving them such assurances &
encouragement as you deem proper.
