Dear Sir,
Some days
ago I learned that Mrs Rutledge the
wife of Maj. Rutledge of the Reb. Atmy
(who owns a large amount of real estate
near Decland) was collecting the rents of
her husbands farms. I ordered Col. Payne
to cause Cand, at Duchen to cause her
to pay over the rents so collected to his
provost Marshall for the U.S. Treas
Agent who is is expected here soon.
Since which I have now, the following
telegram from Maj. Genl Rousseau –
(here insert)
I have obeyed Gen Rousseaus order & directed
Col. Page? to send the money ($179.00) to
Gen Rousseaus Provost Marshall at Nashville.
Im ordering Col. Payne to take this suit
collected by Mrs Rutledge from her. I acted
in obedience to G O. No. 72 – Pgs 15 & G.O.
