General 

              I respectfully (stricken: ask) request 
that the Maj. Gnl. comdg the Dept of the 
Cumberland will order that officers 
conductors & employees of the N. & C. R.R. 
will be regained to respect passes & transportation 
granted  by my order 
 to officers soldiers, scouts, detectives or 
witnesses that I (stricken: may) have to send to different 
points along the line of this R.R. almost daily 
in connection with its protection & defense.  It seems to be 
a matter of choice or caprice among these 
R.R. men whether they will respect any thing 
eminating from these head quarters or not.. 


  Sometimes officers or men having passes & 
transportation by my orders are (stricken: politely) told 
in choices of Billingsgate 
(stricken: to go to Hell) that they (the R.R. men) dont 
care a (stricken: god d—n ) for Milroys passes etc.  At 
other times they permit officers & soldiers to go 
over the R.R. on (stricken: my) passes by my order 
but refuse transportation by my orders & require them 
to pay for the service.  If (stricken: I cannot .be) I am 
to be snubed by these R.R. men and am
