The infamous scoundrel Edw. De Reu
induced me to endorse a note to Gov. Sprague
for $ 150.00 at 60 days dated Feb 19th 1964
for the purpose of lifting a note in the 1st
National Bk. of W. City which he has got
discounted then with my endorsement, & which
was about due. He obtained the money Sprague
partner Maj. Potter on the 22nd of Feb/64
& instead of lifting his note in Bk. absconded,
leaving me liable for $150 to Gov. Sprague $150
in Bk which was probated at $2.50 cost and
$20.00 which I had loaned him, & $135.00
which I had pd. in Bk on a former note.
In all $457.50. For all of which see
notes etc. The discription of this villian
is as follows – about 40 years old,
about 6 ft high – light florid complexion
light hair & mustash gray eyes - round face small
beard spare neck, sharp features – upper
teeth out.
