Two gurilla were at my house yesterday
evening. They ordered their supper cooked and horses
fed told me they intended living off of the Lincolnites.
They remained at my house until 8 oclock. they then
went to Mrs. Battles and remained until
nearly day so I understood. I know that they
went to the Battles from my house but do
not know how long they remained
They say they intend having Mrs. Battles house
a good comfortable house built and they intend-
ed to make the money off of the Union people
That they will make them pay dearly for the burning
of Mrs Battles house. that for every dime she has lost she shall
receive one dollar.
There will be no peace in
the neighborhood as long as that family remains in
it I think they should have been sent south long
ago. They should be sent to their rebel friends as they
are not willing to submit to our government.
I understand Mrs. Dr. Everett Patterson has taken
an active part in reporting to the rebels
when he finds horses
belonging to Union people were to be found
and that she also has harbored them and traded
in Nashville for them for I do not know whether
this be true or not – The other I know to be true
