My Dear Mary, 
 
 
 
                     I recd yours of 31st  
ult. day before yesterday. I recd .the 
 package of the letters you sent me. Beard 
 has not joined me but is on the way . 
 I hope you have recd my other letters 
 and the package of $300.00 I sent you 
by express – I sent it to Indianapolis 
 by private conveyance and it was sent by 
 express from there and the rect sent me. 
 All of my 100 day Regts. That are 
 formed have arrived and reported and  have been  
sent on to different points southward  
except two who will go to day and tomorrow. 
 The Regts that have reported to me are the  
132, 133, 134, 135, 136,137 & 138 . But 7  
in all . They are trying to form another 
 at Indianapolis –the 139th  and may succeed  
but it is somewhat doubtful. I will leave 
 here today for Tullahoma where my head 
quarters will be . I am assigned to the 
defence of the Nashville and Chattenooga R.R.  
from this place to seven miles this side  
of Chattenooga -144 miles . I will have a 
 number of other troops in my comd besides 100 
  days men & including two Brig Genls. The 134th 
 Regt. got off this morning to Bridgeport. This 
 Regt . is mostly from Lafayette . Lee is in  
this Regt. and the boys  from Rensselaer and Jasper Co.
