Headquarters District of Tennessee
Nashville, Tenn July 27th 1864
My Dear Mary,
I wrote you fully
yesterday. Last night Gen Rousseau
retruned back here & of course will
resume his command & I will
return tomorrow to Tullahoma,
for which I am not sorry as there
is less work, less responsibility, & the air
is more pure & healthy than here.
If Conwell & Will Martin come
here tell them to inquire for Capt
Little Commissary of Subsistance, who
has charge of the vast commissary
stores here. Mr. James is with
Capt Little. I spoke to the Capt
about places for Conwell & Martin &
he promised me to get them places
when they come. Tell them to go to
him & tell him that they are the men
I spoke to him about & he will
give them places & also show them
where James is.
