My Dear Robert, 
 
 
 
		I received your letter giving 
a description of you visit to Fortress Monroe, 
and regret very much that I did not receive  
the first letter you wrote me after you 
returned to Washington from home. 
I am anxious to know if you made any  
settlement with Bowen. 
 
 
 
We have had delightful weather for a few 
days. My girl went home on Jasper   
yesterday morning, and has not returned 
yet. The children are all at school 
except Brucy, he went off with Ada 
this forenoon and has not been back  
since. I begin to feel uneasy about him 
and will have to go and look after him 
for she sometimes takes him off to John 
Warnes’s house where Preacher Martain now 
lives. I asked one day what she took him 
off so far for when she knew I did not allow 
him to go, she answers Why! we just took  
a walk. I thought it was a big walk for 
little folks. I have got Brucy home, 
	he and Ada were at Conwells.
