Dear Sir, You must pardon the liberty I take in writing to you today, for were in a little broil here and it will do no harm to acquaint you of some of the particulars. You have learned ere this no doubt that there remain still many friends, to your chief- the “Old Grey Eagle”- among “Milroy’s late Division” as our “Actg Brig Genl” has it. We forwarded a paper to you a few days ago petitioning the president to return Gen. Milroy to his old Division. You have doubtless rec’d it ere this.
