Governor of the State of Indiana, and commander-in-chief of the militia thereof,
TO ALL WHO SHALL SEE THESE PRESENTS --- GREETING,
Whereas, It has been certified to me by the proper authority that Robert H. Milroy
has been duly elected to the office of Captain of the company called the Wabash
Invincibles in the Indiana Volunteers and in the
Said State under the Act of Congress, “An Act providing for the prosecution of the existing War between
the United States and the Republic of Mexico,” approved May 13, 1846.
Therefore Know Ye, that in the name and by the authority of the said State, I do
hereby commission him the
said Robert H. Milroy Captain
as aforesaid in the said Company, to serve from the date hereof until the expiration
of the term of service of said
Company , if he shall so long behave well.
In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be
affixed the Seal of the State, at Indianapolis, the Eighth
day of June in the year of our Lord 1846, the thirtieth
year of the State, and of the United States the seventieth.
