Personally appeared before William G. George Capt. & Asst Adjutant General
Isaac Somer who being duly sworn takes & subscribes this affidavit
I, Isaac Somer, do voluntarily & solemnly
swear that I will support and defend the Constitution & Govern-
ment of the United States against all their enemies or opposers
whether domestic or foreign any resolution, law, or ordinance
of any State Convention or Legislature whatsoever to the contrary
notwithstanding that I renounce all allegiance to the so-called Confederate
States of America – and that I will not in manner
(stricken: whatsoever) give any aid, advice, comfort or intelligence
to the enemies of the United States –
