Brig Genl. R.H. Milroy
Dear Sir,
Yours of the 1st inst
was received by me yesterday occasioned
me very much surprise that any exception
has been taken of my conduct even by the
most bitter enemy, since I had left my
former station. For I had been laboring with
all my power day & night to get into
proper shape the business of our Regiment
that had been so terribly confused by the
administration in power during my illness
that we might be in condition as soon
as we could get partially clear of the
large sickness by measles to ask Genl
Rerencrans to send us to some field of active
service for I am heartily tired and sick of being
at any point removed from the front, and when
ambitions unscruplions I ______ have time to concoct
I _____ to harrass and annoy their inferior officers.-
Upon the receipt of your letter I went to
Capt Copp and desired him to give to me the
authority he heard such information upon, as
Handwritten; 7 pages, double folded on white stationery with light blue lines
