Mcdouough Cty Ills Blandinsville June the 3 1860 Dear mother I drop you afew lines to let you know that we are all well at presant hoping those few lines may find you all well and in good spirits which I am doubtful is not the case though you must hope for the beter I have nothing of much importance to rite now I will give you the nuse of the times crops season and so on the times is arey well hard hear and money skerse the corn crop looks very well at this time there was no rain of any amount through the spring months but yesterday we had a verry fine rains it is thought it to late for to heat I don't think that it can make one third op a [?] and oats meadow is in the same fise and as to prices of produce there is non of any amount there is a litle corn selling it is rainging from 25 to 35 per bu wheat there is non in market flour from $3.00 to $3.50 per hunderd horses and catle is very lo wages and market stup is lo and dull I like to see you very much but the distance is to fair to admit very many trips but I allaw to come as soon as I can but I cant set no time now you must give my respects to all that inquire after us and recive opotion your self I have one leter to rite Jack and one to loo and I must come to a close by saing rite as soon as you receive those lines so nomore at presant and ly to remain your til deth Peter Nichols to Sarah Nichols
