Camp Harison + Canding Va June 7 th 1862 Dear Mother i sit down to let you Know that i am well at this time and i do hope that when those lines comes to hand they may find you all in good health i recived a letter from you the other day stateing that you had not heurd from me since in Feb and that you did not Know whether you was a riting to the dead me the living and I can inform you all that i am still in the land of the living i have nothing to say about it i Know that i have rote a dozen of letters to you in the last two months and if you have not recived them that i cannot help but i would if i could i have not recived but two letters form you since the battle of Winchester and that has been along time i have nothing of much interest to rite at this time a solidiers life is one that
is hard and dangerous the gallant old 14 is in big spirits to think that they have Joined the grand army of the united states of amarica
