Transcription	Va Oct the 31 62 Dear Mother and Sister I sit & Down myself this fine evening in the field in nick is our new camp at this time and i have Just recived a letter from you and in this letter it says for me to rite to you as soon as i recived that one form you and i thought i would answer it this evening as we are on the march and now not when we start again as we [?] up all night Just night and ay be to night again and this is the only church i may have for the next [?] again I am able to run my train again and i weigh 133 lbs i am in hopes that you are all well and in fine spirits at home the war I a getting to be a horrible thing to think about to one in defence of his Country in the field let alone them at home the thought of serving another winter in the field is one that is pretty hard to swallow by some of all Majses that are in the field Mother tell my that i say if he gose to the field anymore he is certainly a little deranged in my mind so no more at this time only i remain your Affectionate child till Death Milton Nichols To his Mother and Sister
