Georgetown Oct the 8th 1861 Dear Brother I recieved your letter the other day and you wanted to know if it was so about Charlses comapny being prisoners it is not so Charlses company is campt 1 1/2 miles from here we are campt on the top of a big hill 1 mile from Georgetown thare are 15 or 20000 men campt around here I think the fighting is almost done in missorie they run from us whare ever we go I have wrote 2 or 3 letters home that I have got no answer from when I wrote to you for them stamps I didnot no that soaldiers letters could be franked I was glad to hear in your letter that all was well at home I am in verry good health my self I have fattend up so that my pants will butten up at the top but I must be brief as my desk is a big yellow pumpkin we recieved our pay day before yesterday I got 26 dollars and 85 cents 6 dollars and 1/2 I had to pay the suttars 1.15 for cooking 1 1/2 for a fief I will send 10 dollars home give it to mother and tell her to spend it as she pleases I will keep the rest for fear I might nead it the pay master didnot pay us for all our time and says he will pay us for 2 more months in 4 weeks but I doubt him paying us that soon if he dose I will send it all home I dont intend to spend any only for things I need I intend to _ save all I can nomore at prsent I remain your affectonate brother Edmund Graham N wright and letme no if you get this direct all your letters to Jefferson City as that is hed quarters
