A Suggestion Now some of the people in Bloomington are complaining about the court house yard being too high. "That they can't stand on one side of the square, and see a man on the other." For this reason they are going to ass the commission to lower the grading of the yard two more feet. We are going to ? tender a suggestion, that whi? are digging up the hitch-rack to just dig on down to a sufficient depth and fix the whole ayrd, court house and all on an automatic spring, with electric push buttons at convienent intervals around the square, so that when any one gets on a "hot trail" of one of his creditors, his wife or another man's wife, on band nights, when they are trying to give him the "dodge" you could just touch a button and drop the court house, yard and all, down in the the ground, giving a plain view of the whole square. Such an arrangement would be useful in many different ways, especially would it furnish unlimited pleasure to the "never sweats" and help digest their food. The only particular "draw back" to such an arrangement, would be, that it might have a tendency in dropping the court house into the earth, would place the office-holders a "little" closer to "Hades" and the ? might get busy on some of the ? ones as well as Republicans. Chas. Dill received a very painful injury., while working at the National quarry, Monday. A heavy shieve fell on his foot, and will be some time before he can walk on it again. Ed Douthitt, while working on a machine at the Oolitic quarry, Tuesday, a "gang" of drills fell on him, breaking his collar bone. Dr. Kentling reset the fracture and it is thought he will be out again in a short time. Our township schools have for the last few years been longer than common. Last year there was 7 months school and trustee Harrell says that there will be enough township money to have a 7 or months school this year. Mr. Harrell says that it is with only the most economical management that a 7 month schoool can be had in this township1. Judge Wilson to be with Poling and Harris Judge Wilson, by special request, will stop off on his return home from Bedford, Friday night, and will speak when the rest of the candidates will be here. If the weather is ploasant the speaking will be from the band stand. Everybody is invited to come out. Mrs. Fred Koontz, died Monday, at the home of her father John Carmichael at Kirksville, of consumption. She was about 23 years of age asd had been married only a short time. "Growing stronger every day"—is a statement of facts of the general sentiment of Ralph Carter's candacy for trustee of this township. And why shouldn't he? He is competent, everyone will admit. Why not give him the office? More benefit to the people generally would be derived from his salary than any other man that could be put tap.
