Every old farmer that has some maple tress is a very busy man, just now and the weather is fine. The local market at present is $1.00 per gallon and a little better grade of syrup is being put out this year than common as the scheme of adding a little "store sugar" has to be cut out, unless it is labeled to contain so much adulteration. The fact that maple molasses comes under the pure food law requires all makers to label every can sold. There is a heavy penalty on failure to do so and a rush has been made on this office for labels this week. The Game Of Checkers Checkers, checkers everybody is playing checkers. Checkers is a game that never grows old. It is a game where you use science, deplomacy, strategy and human magnetism. When you play ball, you use your activity and strength, when you play pool, you depend on your skill, when you play cards you depend mostly on your luck, but when two opponents sit down to play a game of checkers, there is a clash of human magnetism throwing out all its magnet power to overcome the other. The person who can retain his composure and self confidence stands the best chance of winning the game.
