The Xmas tide is coming on— get [missing text] —All kinds of soldering, and repair work done at this office—by "Happy" This kind of weather is awful hard on "dumb brutes and sheep." Mrs. Frank Deckard spent Wednesday with Mrs. France Wooden. Wm. Souders has bought a mare and colt from Henry Eads for $125.50. James Johnson, of Bedford, visit his father, R. W. Johnson Sunday. Ruby Deckard has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Myers for two weeks. Miss Mary Fox, of Bloomington, visited her sister, Mrs. Walter Clifft, over Sunday. Mrs. J. L. Day and children, of Albion, Ill., are visiting her sister, Mrs. France Wooden this week. Anyone wanting Red Cross Stamps for their Xmas packages or letters, can get them of R. W. Johnson, at the postoffice. Mr. and Mrs, David Corder and children, Ralph and Lucile, visited the family of Wm. Souders from Sunday until Tuesday evening. It is reported that Miss Ida Fox, daughter of Mrs. Mollie Fox, is to be married soon to Jesse Willis, at Los Angles, Cal. Miss Fox went west about two years ago. DON'T FORGET—Next week you will find Fresh Oyster, Cranberries, Apples, Oranges, Bananas, Grapes, Nuts and the largest stock of Candies in town at C. E. DECKARD'S. Why is it the Harrodsburg boys come up here to see the Smithville girls, and ah the Smithville boys go down to see the Harrodsburg girls? Unless something is done there will be no distinction between the two towns and all will be one family. Hello! little boys and girls. Old Santa Claus will soon be around to see you and you must all be nice little children and mind papa and mamma. Hang up your stockings next Friday night, and get in bed early and go to sleep, as a noise might cause my reindeer to run off before I can get down the chimney. $2,000 HOSS' IN TOWN. A stock firm, Bridges & Flora, of Crawfordsville, have a large iron gray stallion here, and are making an effort to form a stock company to purchase the horse. The horse is the finest piece of hoss' flesh that ever struck this town. He weighs i960 lbs. and is 4 years old, is of the Percheon stock. The probabilities are that the horse will be bought and a stand will be made here, as this is considered one of the best points in Monroe county for a stallion. Some of the probable stockholders, are Chas. Botkin, Silas Grimes Loebe Warring, Calvin, Chas. and Silas Wisley James Deckard, Geo. Gaither Paris Trisler, Geo. Hensley, Wm. Jacobs Oscar and John Mitchell. The season for such a horse brings $15. This horse took second premium at the Illinois state fair last August. Miss Maude Phillipy called on Miss Arra Wooden Tuesday night. Mrs. France Wooden and Miss Arra Wood en visited in Blooming-ton, Thursday. The meeting at the M. E. church still continues with much interest, twenty-five additions have been made to the church. In all it is a great religious revival and it seems that a great deal oif good is being accomplished. Edgar Deckard, ---- ---- Reporter. Ella Strain was unable to teach, this week on account of sickness. Her sister, Effie taught during her absence. There was no school in the intermediate room Monday. The menagerie contest held last Friday proved to be very interesting. The following is a list of pupils who were absent some this week: Lillie Pate, Muriel Trisler, Anna Sylvester, Ola Botkin, Daisy Deckard, Mamie Wal1s, Hazel Sylvester, Edith Hensley and Belle Wampler. Frank Zike, Grover Shields and Chas. Dill were visitors at school Wednesday. Mary Burkhart and Zella Sipes are new primary pupils. The walk afforded some good skating Wednesday, a constant stream of pupils could be seen sliding down it at recess periods. It was found cindered Thursday morning. , If the Standard Oil Company is put out of business as is suggested it simply means that some new kink will be sprung. As long as mankind worship Gold as its God just that long are you going to find some hook or crook to pile up the stuff.
