Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Warring, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wisley, spent the day, Sunday, with Dr. and Mrs. Kentling. The Hon. William Waltman, ex-prosecutor of Brown and Barth-olemew counties spoke to a large and enthusiastic audience at the Sanders school house last night. He was introduced by the chairman J. K. Barclay as ''Yankee Bill" as he was familarly known, and Mr. Waltman spoke very interestingly on the tariff question. He is a good speaker and had the best of attention of the audience present. John O'Donnell, better known as "Irish O'Donnell'' spoke for one hour and gave an interesting talk on local affairs and kept the house in an uproar of laughter by his Irish wit. Sheriff Joe Rat-liff was present and made a short that was well received and our next Treasurer John C. Dolan was there to meet and talk to the "boys" and was greeted with hearty applause. George Adams canididate for Trustee of Perry township was also present. George is a good fellow and gave a short talk which was well received. William Carmichael, candidate for Auditor, was there also and, made quite an interesting, but short speech. Between speeches there was excellent music by a qurtette composed of I. U. students, and their singing was fine. "Cotton'' Berndt one of the greatest athletes of the state gave some very fine selections of music on the French harp and was called back by repeated encores. In all the meeting was one of best the Democrats have had in this part of the county and everybody was well pleased and went home in the best of humor. Election Returns Arrangements are already being made to have the election returns given at this place, Harrodsburg and Clear Creek. There will be no additional, charge by the telephone company for this service, and it is expected to have a gala occasion at these places while they are being received. KITCHEN CABINETS There is no other one thing that can reduce the house wife's work and worry so much as a Kitchen Cabinet. Of course we mean by that a Kitchen Cabinet.'' In designing the "McDougall" they seem to have thought of every thing the woman needs in her work. There' s the roomy cup-board the spice cans, coffee and tea canisters, sugar and flour bins, bread board, closet for pots and skellets--in fact everything right at your fingers ends. And we have every style to suit every taste. Cabinets from $33.OO to 7.85 CHARLIE WYLIE'S Baker's Old Stand. ELMER LUCAS Democratic Candidate for Assessor Already Elected. Elmer Lucas, has already, been elected assessor of Clear Creek Township. After due deliberation by all the Republican Central Committeemem, it was decided not to place a man on the ticket for assessor, from the fact, that there was no candidate expressed himself for that position in the convention last March, and as the time of the election was drawing very near before anyone made any effort to get on the ticket, it seemed to be the general opinion of older ponticans that it would be more satisfactory to just let that part of the ticket go blank. That there was any political trick, or agreement, as might be construed, is without foundation or facts. Make your own inquiries, gentlemen, the facts and circumstances will satisfactoryly explain themselves. Band Going to Harrodsburg The Smithville band will go Harrodsburg, to-morrow night, to the republican speaking, in which one of the band members is interested. It is expected to have an "Old Fashioned, Good Old Time," and every member is requested to turn out and be at his post early in order to get there in plenty of time. Dr. Baker to Leave Harrodsburg. Dr. J. V. Baker, who has been prac-ticing medicine, at Harrodsburg, tor the past 9 years, has sold out to Wm. P. Holland, of Medora. who has already taken charge of the practice at that place. Dr Baker has not yet definately decided upon a location, but probably Edinburg, Indiana. Dr. Baker has made a success at Harrodsburg and his leaving will be taking away an influental and active man from Harrodsburg. His successor, Dr. Holland comes highly recommended, and will no doubt keep up with the standard held by Dr. Baker. Dr. Gobbel will still be associated with Dr. Baker's successor. Dr. Baker has been the faithful News correspondent at that place and it is generally regretted that he is soon to leave us." John Foster is going to give a Pie Social at the school house at Mt E bal, to-night. Everybody invited. Bert Sciscoe, a well known quarry-man, at Sanders, and Bertha Burkhart, daugher of James Burkhart, were married at the residence of James Bouher,at Clear Creek, last Sunday.
