              THE DALE NEWS VOL I FRIDAY, JANUARY 28, 1938   NO 3   AUTO WRECK SOUTH OF DALE WILLIAM DEERING DIES FROM INJURIES RECEIVED IN CRASH AND FROM BEING RUN OVER BY CAR   William Deering, 29, died Sunday morning In St. Mary's hospital in Evansville from in. juries received in the automobile wreck that occurred Saturday night just south of Dale on state highways 95 and 62. The wreck happened shortly after midnight.  Blinded by a dense fog, cars that were driven by Jerk Snyder of Dale and Otto Roach of near the Dubois and Spencer County line collided and Deering, who was riding with Snyder, was thrown from the ear by the impact and a third car, driven by Homer Kemp of Dale, came upon the scene so suddenly because of the fog, ran over Deering as he lay on the highway.  The Fuller ambulance of Dale rushed Deering to the hospital but he never gained conscioueness but died at 6 a. m. Sunday.  Snyder and Roach received cuts and bruises about their bodies and the others that were in the cars were uninjured.  Deering was a coal miner here in Dale. His home is at Princeton, Ky. Wedeking as assistant hostess.  Master Elden Jenkins is confined to his home with the chicken pox.  Rev. Pat McClary, son of Rev. and Mrs. James T. McClary, and who has been helping in the U. COUNTY SCOUT MEETING HELD  THREE LOCAL BOY SCOUTS ADVANCED FROM SECOND RANK TO FIRST RANK  The Boy Scouts of Spencer County gathered at the Chrisney Gymnasium Monday evening to listen to a very interesting program given by six Eagle Scouts of Evansville. These six boys have recently made a trip through Europe and the experiences and adventures they had were given in a way that made each listener feel that he too had been to Europe. Everyone that was present enjoyed it.  A Court of Honor Ceremony was also held, at which time three Dale Scouts, Lester Potter, Raymond Schum and Bussey Brown, were advanced from second rank to first rank and eight Rockport scouts were advanced to second rank.  Scoutmaster Ora Brown, assistant scout-master Charles Bockstahler and O. M. Sprinkle accompanied the boys to Chrisney.   FIRE DEPARTMENT IS REORGANIZED  The fire department of Dale met Thurs. day January 27, 1938. at the K. P. Hall and reorganized. The following were elected: Tom Maclean, fire chief; W. T. Wright, assistant fire chief; Glen Smith, secretary. Members of the fire department are: Tom Medcalf, W. T. Wright, Leo Heichelbech, John Heichelbech, Avril Smith, H. F. Knott, Glen Smith, Wallace Whitten, Linus Grundhoefer, Walter Weller, Lee Hildebrand, George Snyder, Clyde McCormick, Ford Scott, Clarence Otto, Frank Schum, William Kemper, Hobert Wedeking, Roy Stone, Dwight Springston, Walter Wilkey, LeRoy Musgrave, Olan Cooper, Dick Painter and Parvin Smith.  Miss Esther Vogel, a teacher of the local high school, is Confined in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jenkins with the flu.  Buy Butereg and Giant Twist at SCHROER BROS. It's the best.  Ora Brown and a group of local boys made a trip to Kentucky over the week end. They visited Louisville, Frankfort, Lexington and seen the Dix Dam near Lexington and other points of interest.
