October 7, 1944
Dear Doris:
When you were up to the Service Men's Party a few weeks ago I intended to give you one of the little USO pins which we have been giving to the girls who serve as hostesses at ten or more parties, but things went so badly that night that I forgot it.
Intrinsically, the pins are worth very little but the girls all seem to be quite proud to wear them, as I think they shold, and I though you might like to have yours to wear. You will find it enclosed with this letter.
Martha Dean will be leaving for school the last of October, and we will miss her. I hope you are enjoying your school work and your new friends.
You knew, I presume, that Frances Mahan and Norma Popp have been accepted for the WAVES and expect to leave for duty the last of this month or soon after.
Thanks for your cooperation in making our parties a success, and I hope it will not be too long until you can be with us again.
Sincerely,
Jesse G. Dorsey
