Eastern Holds Fiftieth Commencement
Ninety- three local students and six
G rad ua t ion Party Preparations
Paula Jensen, 312 S. Meridian St., was one of many parents and extended
families who spent hours in preparation for recemons in honor of high school
graduates. She is doing some last- minute decorating before Eastern's
Commencement on June 4. The reception was in honor of Matthew Jensen and
Joe Oglesbee, foster sons.

foreign exchange students were
recognized during Eastern High
School's Fiftieth Annual
Commencement Sunday, June 4,
2: OO p. m. in the High School
Gymnasium. Special guests of the
Class of 2000 were members of the
Class of 1951, the first class to
graduate from Eastern after
consolidation of the three township
schools. The Class of 2000 wore
green robes, while the Class of 195 1
wore gold.
Valedictorian of
the Class of 2000
is Angie Howell,
daughter of Kevin
& Michelle
Howell. She is
co- captain of
Varsity Softball
and a member of National Honor
Society and Student Council. She
was . selected to the 1st team
Academic AU- State, MIC Academic
All Conference, Elks Most Valuable
Student and 2nd team All- State in
softball.
The salutatorian
is Justin Johnson,
son of Curtis
Johnson. He is a
member of the
varsity baseball
team, member of
Student Council,
President of the Sr. class, and
Secretary of the National Honor
Society. He was awarded the
Principal's Leadership Award and
MIC Academic All Conference
Team.

members. The public is invited.
