Coach, Meredith Cipriano, said, “ When people asked players and coaches what team would zome out victorious in Sectional 40, one of the last teams you would have heard is Eastern High School. However, on Oct. 21st we shocked our opponents and maybe even our fans when we were sble to beat Sheridan 3- 0, Tipton 3- 0, and Madison Grant 3- 0. By doing that, we were able to capture that ever- elusive sectional title. The team worked hard all season and were able to put everything together at the right time of year and do what no volleyball team has done before them at Eastern, win that Sectional Title.” Eastern’s Robotics Team Tops it Off! This was the first year for a Robotics Team at Eastern, but you would never guess that from the final score at the “ Top It OFF” Vex Robotics Competition on Saturday, November 3, 2007. Seventy- two teams from Indiana met in Bloomington to compete in this tournament. For the last month, each team designed a robot to strategically place balls into specified goals. During the tournament, teams were paired as allies for each two minute round. After the final match, the “ Winning Alliance” trophy was presented to the top two teams: Walker Career Center of Indianapolis and Eastern Jr/ Sr High School of Greentown. Not only did the Eastern Comet Tech Team score the most points throughout the day, they received the Prestigious Engineering Award for their functional and innovative design.
