Election Day to Be
May 7
The Republican and
Democrat parties will conduct
their Primary Elections for
candidates from local to
national offices on May 7,
1996. School Board elections
will be held the same day. The
school board bal4ot is
separate from either political
party.
Three of the five members
of Eastern Howard School
Corporation will be elected
this year. Dennis Maple of
Jackson Twp. and Bryan
Kirkpatrick of Union Twp. are
unopposed. Seeking election
from Liberty Twp. are Phil
Bogus, Tammy Hahes, and
Judd Mason. Voters in
Liberty, Jackson, and Union
townships will be able to vote

Conditioned
The Eastern Howard School
Board, at their regular meeting
April 23, voted to accept the bid
of $ 137,30Ofrom Jack E. Buckley
of Buckley Heating & Cooling,
Bunker Hill, Indiana, to air
c o n d i t i o n t w e n t y - n i n e
classrooms in the elementary
and high school, completing the
air conditioning of all regular
classrooms in both buildings.
The bid was the lowest of four,
ranging to $ 199,000. The
Buckley bid was recommended
by Moore Engineering, Indpls.
The project is to be completed
by August 14, 1996.
Members of Junior Girl Scout Troop # 4427 pick up trash along U. S. 35. They later were treated to lunch at HighJand Park in
Kokomo.

Troop # 4427 ( 6th graders)
worked with Brownie Troop
# 4428 ( 3rd graders) in picking
up trash along the north side of
U. S. 35 west of Greentown on
Saturday April 20. The effort
was part of Keep America
Beautiful Day. This project also
fulfilled a requirement of the
Junior Troop in helping the
Brownies prepare to " bridge
up" to Junior level. '
The Cub Scouts also
participated in Keep America
Beautiful Day.

New Police Car Ordered
Town Council President Robert
Armstrong requested and
received approval of an order
for a new police car for the
Greentown Police. Ordered from
Brad Howell Ford was a .1996
Ford Crown Victoria at the price
of $ 19,666. This will bring the
local fleet up to three cars.
$ 5,500 would be allowed as
trade- in if the Town wishes to
trade in one of the present cars.
Decision on whether or not to
trade in will be made later.
Don Flook moved that the
Town close the alley one- half
block east of Meridian Street
between Main and Walnut
Streets, subject to a written
request from Brad Howell. The
Town would maintain utility
easements. The motion passed.
Don Flook requested approval
for the Greentown Main Street
Association to hire Jane Ann
Howey to assist the Association
in steps required to plan and
implement a program. He
explained that hiring Ms. Howey
is dependent on getting a CPF
grant which would pay one- half
of her fee, which is $ 1 1,400.
Upon a motion by Roger Wolfe
and second by Frank Robertson,
the Council approved hiring of
Howey.
NOTE: In action during their
meeting April 4, the Greentown
A r e a Economic Development
Committee voted to provide
$ 6,000 to the Greentown Main
Street Association to help
finance the Main Street
program. This amount will cover
the local contribution for the
hiring of Jane Ann Howey as
consultant.
