The Hamilton East Public Library collection contains digitized materials that depict and preserve the history of Hamilton County in general and Noblesville, in particular. The initial collection of Noblesville Mayor Docket Books was digitized through funds from a 2015 LSTA grant supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Indiana State Library.
Our initial collection, the Noblesville Mayor Docket Books, record the early court cases heard by the mayors of Noblesville beginning in 1887 through 1950. As these books were being digitized, an earlier docket book dating 1879 was found and added to the collection. It recorded court cases heard by various Hamilton County judges before the city of Noblesville became incorporated as a city.
The Noblesville Public Library was housed in a Carnegie Library from 1913 to 1986. When the library moved to a new building and City Hall moved into the Carnegie building, the mayor docket books were put into the possession of the library. The library continues to archive the original books.
Future collections will be added so that our local history may be shared with researchers, students, historians and genealogists. Check back frequently to see what has been added
