UNITED STATES COAL COMMISSION WASHINGTON May 26, 1923. Judge Dan M. Link, c/o Frederick Hotel, Huntington, West Virginia. My dear Judge Link: The Commission is just in receipt of the following telegram from William Turnblazer, President, District 19, United Mine Workers of America, Knoxville, Tennessee: "Miners of District 19 have been forced to call special convention to take action upon the infringements of their constitutional rights, to be held at Middlesboro, Kentucky, Thursday, May 31, and extend you a most cordial invitation to be present and address the convention or send representative to represent you." In the absence of the other members of the Commission, Commissioner Smith has asked me to inform you that no official member of the Commission will attend this meeting, and suggests that you use your own judgment as to the advisability of being present and using this opportunity to gain additional information upon the subject which you are investigating for the Commission in that locality. Very truly yours, Secretary.
